You Can’t Ask That  is an Australian television documentary series that aims to give misunderstood social groups in Australia an opportunity to express themselves. Participants respond to a series of questions about their social group. Other episodes include, firefighters, people with autism, HIV positive people and kids.

Summary

In every episode we meet a new group of misunderstood or marginalised Australians answering anonymous, online questions.

This episode of the series from 2019 season 5 episode 2 features nudists. Nudists and naturist who are active online as well as those active in Australian naturism will recognize several of the faces. They include yoga instructor Jessa O’Brien known online as the nude blogger and a member of Young Naturists of Australia.

The questions though typical of a non naturist crowd aren’t overly salacious. Questions like What made you show your privates to a bunch of strangers, Are you a perv? and How do you avoid leaving skid marks? Weren’t you afraid people would laugh about your body? Why aren’t nudist old and saggy? All the questions all hardly deftly and effectively by the participants who include a nudist mother and son, four males, four females, a single woman from Indonesia and a transgender woman. My favorite line is

If your butt is bare put a a towel on your chair!

The group speaks openly and honestly about their experiences in naturist community and at nude beaches. The women are speak frankly about the ways some men objectify them or make sexual advances. Both the men and women speak about the issues of body acceptance that they have experienced and how being a naturist allowed them to come to grips with those isssues in part through naturism.

I preferred this to the web program Do all Nudists Think The Same?. My only disappointment was the group did not include any aboriginal Australians which prevents me from giving it a perfect school. Definitely give this one a view it’s worth it. If you know someone wondering about naturism or nudism this is a good documentary to watch.
