James Mack, a reporter for the International News Bureau, is assigned by his editor to do a story on the phenomenon of nudist colonies.

Elysia’s real life founder and owner, Dr. Hobart Glassey, opens the film, sharing his perspective on the virtue and values of nudism.

This “documentary” film was one of the first of what would become a highly exploitative sub-genre of “nudist films”. It is essentially a tour of the nudist camp, with a loose plot about a journalist covering the topic of nudism. Naturist Vintage

Running just under 25 minutes the film expresses the core principles and philosophy of early modern nudism. The focus on health, physical activity, communal meals and family orientation paints a starkly different picture from today’s popular misconception of nudism. Nudists are shown participating in a variety of physical activities, from calisthenics, volleyball and boxing to baseball and speed walking.

The gender sensibilities will seem outdated by today’s standards but that is understandable for the time. There is a subtle and muted element of attraction between the main character journalist and a stereotypical blonde beauty, played by Constance Allen. While the film seems lacking in excitement for today’s audience, it strongly and clearly presents nudist principles. The healthy intentions of the early nudists is expressed consistently. Sadly future “nudist” films though touted as documentaries  tended to focus more on the nudie cutie than the principles and philosophy of nudism.
