Get Naked – movie review

Summary

Get Naked! – Naked People Every Where. That is the premise of this film satire that depicts America’s latest war on something, a war on nudity. A naked woman has been spotted somewhere in Bakersfield, California. The governor declares a war on nudity and assigns a political operative to remedy the situation and get the woman of the streets of Bakersfield. This satirical take on public nudity is an interesting bit of social commentary about social oppression, corrupt politicians and restrictive laws that create fictitious social crises.

Story

The film a 2017 release, skewers politicians, political pundits, disinformation passing as news and social media influencers all things present in modern day American society. Full of racial and gender stereotypes (Mexican people bear the brunt of it) the movie is filled with scenes depicting whole groups as caricatures. Though done with a satirical tone the scenes can easily offend, since they reflect the current reality. If you anticipated lots of nudity when you read the title of this film or see the TV-MA television rating you will be disappointed. Beyond an occasional bare behind, there is very little by way of nudity in the film. The writing does nothing to create a story worth taking space on the screen.

Acting

The acting in this movie is nothing to write home about, despite appearances of recognizable actors like Eric Roberts. Robert’s may want this one left off his filmography. The rest of the cast deliver the unsophisticated lines in amateurish and unengaging fashion. It feels like they wanted to end the pain of appearing in the film as soon as possible.

Production

The production quality has a low budget B-movie type of feel to it on par with the acting. There is nothing of value worth mentioning or highlighting.

conclusion

The premise of this movie satire is promising but unfulfilled. Since it is available stream for free, it may be worth watching on a slow, clothes-free evening with naturists friends or as a last ditch option for a naturist movie night. However, between the stereotypes to which many may take offense, uninspiring story, the inept acting and low quality production there isn’t anything to recommend in Get Naked. Naked people may be everywhere but a good movie is nowhere to be found in this cinematic offering. Get Naked is an uninspiring satire on an interesting subject.
